Our September 2022 Customer of the Month is Mrs Rima Basu Chatterjee. Mrs Chatterjee recently added a Hipped-Back Edwardian Orangery to her home in the market town of Sedgefield, Stockton-on-Tees.
Since moving into the property, Mrs Chatterjee had been craving more space on the ground floor. She had previously lived in a more spacious home and now felt limited by her new home’s downstairs layout.
Mrs Chatterjee soon decided that a conservatory would be ideal for giving her the additional sitting area she missed. After researching various options online, she chose to go with ConservatoryLand.

After exploring the wide range of choices available at ConservatoryLand, Mrs Chatterjee decided on a made-to-measure Hipped-Back Edwardian Orangery. This period-influenced design helped her elegantly extend her home.

The Orangery was further customised with fluted pilasters, decorative internal pelmets and sculptured high line guttering.
Building Mrs Chatterjee’s Hipped-Back Edwardian Orangery
All our conservatories arrive as kits you can build yourself. However, Mrs Chatterjee did not want a DIY project, so she sought the help of our Approved Installers to construct her dream room.
We delivered all the parts needed for the Hipped-Back Edwardian Orangery’s construction — ready for the Approved Installers. As we vet all of our Approved Installers, Mrs Chatterjee knew she could trust them to build to her exact specifications.
Mrs Chatterjee opted to use our unique all-in-one base, floor and wall system ConservaBase. This easy-to-install solution sped up the build. The colour options of Autumn Leaves 7429 HL and Light Sandstone Mortar meant the base’s brickwork beautifully complemented the building’s existing exterior.
After the Approved Installer used the base to establish solid foundations, they assembled the uPVC frames. Mrs Chatterjee went for a timeless look with white uPVC and sophisticated chrome handles.
The shape of the Orangery and its standard glass windows invite plenty of natural light into the property all year round. Plus, Mrs Chatterjee’s choice of the Blue Self-Cleaning Control Glass roof prevents heat build-up. So, in addition to reducing maintenance, this roofing also keeps the room at the perfect temperature. It’s a win-win.
Mrs Chatterjee adores her new Orangery. She enjoys being able to feel connected to her green garden while being inside. From a practical perspective, it has given her the additional space that she was looking for. The flexibility means she can use the area to relax or as a place to work from home. Thanks to this made-to-measure Orangery, Mrs Chatterjee now has the spacious ground floor she was dreaming of.
