Building Miss Thaugally & Mr Readman’s Edwardian conservatory
Miss Thaugally and Mr Readman opted for our ConservaBase system for a smooth and speedy build. This all-in-one base, floor and wall system can be installed by either a DIYer or a professional. Each ConservaBase is custom-made to meet the conservatory’s exact size and shape, ensuring a perfect fit.
The installer began by preparing the area for the foundations, before fitting the concrete pads. And thanks to our modern manufacturing methods, there’s no need to spend hours assembling fiddly parts or digging up heaps of soil.
With the concrete pads in place, the installer constructed the steel base then fitted insulation sheets to ensure the foundations are safe, solid and moisture-resistant. Plus, installation is much faster than a traditional build because every piece easily fits together.
Next, it was time to build the walls. The installer started with a dwarf brick wall around the base of the conservatory that helps the couple’s new space feel like a natural extension of the rest of their home. The installer then moved on to constructing the white uPVC frames.

Once the frames were installed, it was time to get started on the roof. The project required precise installation because the property was clad in tiles where the new conservatory roof needed to attach. Having assured the couple that they had the right solution, the installers removed, trimmed and replaced the tiles to achieve a seamless and watertight finish.
Miss Thaugally and Mr Readman opted for our blue self-cleaning, solar control glass for the roof because it requires very little maintenance. Not only will their conservatory be cleaner for longer, but the solar control glass will reduce heat build-up, allowing the couple to enjoy a pleasant and comfortable space — whatever the weather.
